NATIONAL CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL: In 1912, an incredible gift of 3,000 cherry blossom trees was bestowed on Washington, D.C. by Tokyo, Japan. Rooted strongly and surviving outside elements, the trees have withstood the test of time - and over a century later, The National Cherry Blossom Festival is preparing for an unprecedented celebration. cherryblossoms
 
The epic 4-week spectacular celebrates spring in Washington, D.C., the gift of the cherry blossom trees, and the enduring friendship between the people of the United States and Japan. The Festival produces and coordinates daily events featuring diverse and creative programming promoting traditional and contemporary arts and culture, natural beauty, and community spirit. Events are primarily free and open to the public. 
 
THE NATIONAL ZOO covers 163 acres and it takes a few hours to see all of their animals and exhibits. Among some of the favorites are giant pandas, bears, lions, giraffes, tigers, monkeys, sea lions, just to name a few. To make your walk around the Zoo more enjoyable, wear comfortable shoes and clothing, as the Zoo is set on hilly terrain and some paths are steep.

5:00 am  Depart from Terminal
Available Pickups:  Mansfield, Blossburg, Liberty, Williamsport
PLEASE NOTE: The above pickups are available, but you must call to confirm.  We do not stop  at all the pickup locations, unless people are designated to get on at the pickup locations. 
8:00 am  Fast food breakfast stop at McDonald's in Dillsburg
11:00      Arrive in Washington, D.C. and enjoy FREE TIME at the NATIONAL ZOO.
Lunch will be on your own while here. 
1:00 pm  Depart on foot with your HOST to walk from the Zoo to the Metro. 
We will walk downhill 5 blocks, take ONE OF THE LONGEST ESCALATORS
IN THE WORLD, and board the METRO for transportation to the National Mall. 
1:30        Enjoy FREE TIME at the SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTE, the world's 
largest museum and research organization. During your free time,
you may want to visit the AIR & SPACE MUSEUM, the AMERICAN
HISTORY MUSEUM, the NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM, the
AMERICAN INDIAN MUSEUM, or the NATIONAL ART GALLERY,
just to name a few.
