COST: $92 and includes motorcoach transportation, hostess service, free time at the Rochester Lilac Festival, lunch buffet, admission to Genesee Country Village, and guided trolley tour.
Rochester Lilac Festival: The only 10-day free festival of its kind in North America is inspired by a magnificent lilac collection at Highland Park that plays host to over 500 varieties of lilacs on more than 1,200 bushes. What was first planted in 1892 by horticultural John Dunbar has turned into the world's largest lilac collection that even Martha Stewart enjoyed when she visited the festival of 2007. This event is perfect for all ages and has even been voted a top 100 event by the American Bus Association.
Genesee Country Village: Take your place in history, just 20 miles from Rochester, NY. This living history museum is the largest in New York and one of the largest in the nation. Spend a few hours within a 19th-Century country village. As you stroll among the 68 restored and fully furnished buildings, you will see how a log cabin settlement grew into a bustling community of stores, shops, schools, churches and fine houses. Take a tour and visit the Village Homes, the Businesses, Shops and Professional Buildings, the Public and Religious Buildings in the village and the Village Gardens.
Experience vivid impressions of 19th-Century American country life - the aroma of soup simmering over an open hearth and bread-baking in a brick oven, the ringing of the blacksmith's hammer, the calls of barnyard animals and the friendly voices of villagers and craftspeople.
