 Thursday, October 17

  • This morning, we will depart on a SIGHTSEEING TOUR, including a TRAM RIDE through the HISTORIC DISTRICT. This is a must when visiting Eureka Springs! All of the guides are either natives of the area or long-time residents, who know what they're talking about and know how to present the information in a fun and easy to understand manner. 
  • Following the tour, we will check in to the CRESCENT HOTEL & SPA. Perched high above the Victorian village of Eureka Springs, Arkansas - recognized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as one of America's Dozen Distinctive Destinations - is the 1886 Crescenpassionplayt Hotel & Spa, a palatial structure and landmark hotel known widely as the "symbol of hospitality" for the State of Arkansas and Ozark Mountain region. Guests can enjoy a HOT TUB, SWIMMING POOL, 15 ACRES OF MANICURED GARDENS, and HIKING AND WALKING TRAILS
  • Tonight's highlight will be the GREAT PASSION PLAY, with DINNER included. Staged in an outdoor amphitheater, the multi-level set, special lighting and sound effects, live animals, and a cast of 150 Biblically-costumed actors come together to create the thrilling epic drama of Jesus Christ's last days on earth. This Christian attraction has been performed since 1998 in the beautiful Ozark Mountains in Eureka Springs. This experience will truly be one-of-a-kind!

Friday, October 18

    • Visit the MILDRED COOPER CHAPEL. Positioned on a wooded hilltop overlooking Lake Norwood, the Chapel is encompassed by towering pines and stately oaks. Because the Chapel's structure is transparent, patterns of light and shadow create an ever-changing interior influenced by nature. 
    • Next, we will take a GUIDED TOUR of the WALMART MUSEUM. The creation of the Walmart Museum was as Sam Walton put it, "a labor of love" for many associates. Led by Betty Holmes, the team scrupulously documented the beginnings of the Walton family, the growth of Sam Walton as a leader and businessman, and the founding of Walmart. 
    • Lunch will be on your own in Bentonville, AR
    • Depart for Fort Smith, ARmisslauras
    • On arrival, we will visit MISS LAURA'S VISITORS BUREAU. It is a MUST for this to be your first stop in Fort Smith. You will get a brief tour of this Victorian mansion that has become a prominent symbol of this once boisterous border town's very colorful past. Out of seven "row houses" that lined Fort Smith's Old West red light district, Miss Laura's is the only house of ill-repute that stood the test of time.
    • ADMISSION is included to FORT SMITH HISTORICAL SITE. From the establishment of the first Fort Smith on December 25, 1817, to the final days of Judge Isaac C. Parker's jurisdiction over Indian Territory in 1896, Fort Smith National Historic Site preserves almost 80 years of history. 
    • Depart for Mount Magazine, AR
    • Check in to the beautiful LODGE AT MOUNT MAGAZINE for a ONE NIGHT STAY. Saturday, October 19

  • Check out and depart for Hot Springs, AR
  • On arrival, we will have a BRIEF CITY TOUR, including BATHHOUSE ROW. Comprised of eight bathhouses, these stately sturctures owned by the 
  • National Park Service were constructed between the years of 1892 and 1923. The Row, described as "the grandest collection of bathhouses of [their] kind in the nation," along with the Grand Promenade was designated as a National Historic Landmark District in 1987. 
  • An elegant LUNCH is included at the Arlington Hotel.
  • Following lunch, we will visit the GANGSTER MUSEUM. Take yourself back to the days of the 20s, 30s, and 40s when mineral water, gambling, gangstermuseumbootlegging, and other extreme pleasures brought visitors from all over the world to Hot Springs, Arkansas. The Gangster Museum of America is a historic and entertaining account of how some of the most notorious criminals in America co-existed with the quaint population of this little valley town in the mountains of central Arkansas. The audiovisual experience of the seven galleries is in itself worth the price of admission. Play in the antique casino and hear the historian in the museum theater relate who, what , when, and where stories that are fascinating, informative, and educational. 
  • Depart for Little Rock, AR

Sunday, October 20

  • BREAKFAST  is included at the hotel.
  • This morning, we will depart for a CITY SIGHTSEEING TOUR, including the OLD MILL. An authentic reproduction of an old water-powered grist mill, this striking structure appears in the opening scene of the classic 1939 film Gone with the Wind and is believed to be the only building remaining from the film. Built in 1933, designed to look old so it would appear as if it was built in the 1800s. 
  • GUIDED TOUR is included at HEIFER INTERNATIONAL. Dan West was a farmer from the American Midwest and member of the Church of the Brethren who went to the front lines of the Spanish Civil War as an aid worker. His mission was to provide relief, but he soon discovered the meager, single cup of milk rationed to the weary refugees once a day was not enough. clintonpresidential
  • Next, ADMISSION is included to the CLINTON PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY & MUSEUM. The Library sits on 29 acres of beautifully maintained grounds with walking trails. The Library contains a replica of the Oval Office and the Cabinet Room, a theater, President Clinton's presidential limousine, and ever-changing exhibits. 
  • DINNER is included at a local, popular restaurant. 

Monday, October 21

  • Check out and depart for Dyess, ARjohnnycash
  • Visit the BOYHOOD HOME OF JOHNNY CASH. Ray Cash brought his family to Dyess in 1935 when President Roosevelt's administration created Dyess Colony in Mississippi County, a space for farming of fertile bottomland and a five-room house in which to live. The house was seen in the motion picture "I Walk the Line." Now owned by Arkansas State University, the house has been restored. The restored admin building contains exhibit related to the establishment of the colony, lifestyles of typical colonists, and the impact that growing up in Dyess had on Johnny Cash and his music. You will see the restoration efforts that have preserved this unique American farming community and the childhood of an American music icon.
