Lititz Craft Festival Saturday, August 9, 2008   $51 pp

Lititz is nestled in the heartland of rich farming country in Lancaster County, just 7 miles north of Lancaster city center. The Lititz Rotary Craft Show is held in Lititz Springs Park and downtown streets for one day only. It is one of the biggest and most popular craft shows on the east coast! Main Street and Broad Street will be closed down completely during this event.

This has become an annual trip that we have been doing for many years. Grab a girlfriend, sister, or mother and enjoy a GIRLS DAY OUT! Make sure you wear your walking shoes for the day and be ready to "shop till you drop!"
 

Landis Valley Village Quilt Demonstration and PA Quilt Festival Saturday, September 6, 2008   $75 pp

Step back in time with a visit to LANDIS VALLEY MUSEUM AND VILLAGE.  Founded by two brothers, Henry and George Landis, it is the largest “living history” village in the country dedicated to the total preservation of early Pennsylvania German life.

The authentic crossroads village includes historic buildings with costumed guide interpretation, a vast collection of historic agricultural equipment, and ongoing farming based on 1700s and 1800s practices and traditions, using historic breeds of animals and crops authentic to the period. Through its Heirloom Seed Project, Landis Valley preserves over 240 varieties of seeds - the same types of seeds that were in the pockets of the first Pennsylvania German settlers.

You will delight in the many living history demonstrations that are offered, including traditional crafts, period manufacturing, farming and food preservation, weaving and cooking.  There will be a discussion on how the Amish and Mennonites make up part of the Pennsylvania Dutch culture.  It’s through presentations like these that we build a bridge of understanding from past to present.  History comes alive to visitors.  At the end of your visit, you'll appreciate more deeply the accomplishments, hardships and triumphs of the early Pennsylvania Germans including the Amish and Mennonites.
 

The PA NATIONAL QUILT EXTRAVAGANZA is the largest and most prominent textile arts event on the east coast all under one roof.  The quilt competition features wonderful entries from throughout the nation.  Entries to the competition include traditional and innovative quilts.  The exhibits of the Extravaganza will offer over six hundred quilts and garments presented in gallery style as well as more than two hundred vendor booths offering everything from completed quilts and garments to all the supplies and equipment used in making them.
